30th March 2007

Today's weather;

Another blue sky with various amounts of clouds in it. It's already 30C and expected high is 32C.

Yesterday max temp was 32C and we had a tropical shower just before noon. In our IDC class we felt lucky that we were in the classroom and not in confined water.
Today we have our first Open Water dive.

Wednesday, March 28, 2007

29th March 2007

Today's weather;

A blue sky with thin white layers in it. Currently it's 27C with an expected high of 33C. This morning, when I woke up, it was wet outside and there must've been some rain.

Yesterday it was 32C with the last two days dark threatening clouds over the mountaintops. We could perfectly observe this when we were completing the confined water dives in the IDC during the last two days. It looked every day as if it would rain but it didn't.

Tuesday, March 27, 2007

28th March 2007

26th March 2007

Today's weather;

It looks a blue sky with milky clouds with a current temp of 25C and an expected high of 30C with thunder!

Yesterday saw a 31C max temp with sometimes threatening clouds but besides a small shower it was a nice day.

Batu Layar, Johor.

We (me & family) started our journey around 2:30pm. The purpose was to explore the place that we never been before - BATU LAYAR.

After about an hour drive, we reached the Batu Layar Chalet (N1°26.741' E104°17.684').

It's just a basic type of Chalet, mean there's no facilities like restaurant, coffee house or leisure center. Advise to go with group, cos if only one or two families, that will be no activities at all. Of course, it's VERY suitable for LOVELY COUPLE ! :)

The rates of the chalet is economy :
* Air-con - RM95.00 per day.
* Non air-con - RM80.00 per day.

The view in front of Batu Layar Chalet.......

Very Nice View but......too bad.....poor maintenance! Rubbish everywhere!

After that I just drove pass some other chalet around the area.......
Batu Layar Chalet LI.......

Punggai Chalet

Punggai Indah Resort

And pass all the resort & chalet along the way to Sg. Rengit.......
All of them are.....basic chalet.

Suppose to having our dinner at Sg. Rengit one of the Seafood restaurant, but we reached there too early (6pm).......so we decided to take our dinner at K.Tinggi town.

Some pictures of Sg. Rengit.....

While we reached the Restaurant Yan Man (N1° 43.602' E103°53.984') at K.T. , almost 7:30pm.
The lady boss recommends us the famous dish of restaurant - Prawn Noodle.

Total 4 of the prawn was BIG!! We also order another vege & soup....total cost only RM31.00 includes drink. The prawn noodle itself cost RM22.00. Cheap!

After dinner, that's end our weekend trip.....

25th March 2007

Today's weather;

Blue sky with clouds, it seems to be warming up again. It's 25C right now.

Yesterday it was a max temp of 30.6C and despite it was looking like rain in the morning it grew warmer during the day time.

Today I'm starting another PADI IDC (Instructor Development Course) with 2 candidates. It's the third course for me this year.

Hotel Recommendations: The Old Phuket Hotel

Karon Beach is far less busy and developed than nearby Patong. There's only a few miles between them, but follow the winding road from Patong and you find that Karon is clean, neat and rather nice. Some would say dull, but you can't please everyone! Recent improvements to the beachfront include nice pavements, statues, and plenty of benches to stop for a rest in the shade. Read more here: Karon Beach.

The Old Phuket Hotel is on a quiet side road called Aroona Karon which is now closed to through traffic making it very pleasant. You're just a few minutes walk from the beach, but away from any crowds. The hotel also has something approaching style - not just another resort, it's built in the old Sino-Portuguese style which you can see remnants of in Phuket Town. Rooms and furniture match the old style, well..nearly... I guess they did not have satellite TV's in the old days! Or Jacuzzis for that matter. The Private Jacuzzi room looks just great.

There are 2 restaurants, 2 bars, pool, sauna, fitness center..you know, all the usual stuff, but with style :) The views from the pool are great with the hills rising to the east of Karon beach it feels like a little oasis. The main Karon centre is about 15 minutes walk to the north, the other end of Karon about 20 minutes to the south. (See location on Google Earth) I think it's one of the nicest places in Karon Beach.

Johor River - Fishing Paradise (Second visit)

After lunch with the gang (Raymond, Stephen, Henry, John & Tommy), Tommy suggest for fish shopping. He intend to get some Kelapu fish and Henry said gonna get some crabs for seafood cooking......
The first visit, please clicks here.

We set our journey with Raymond, Henry, Tommy & me. After about 45 minutes drive, we reach the Johor River again. (N1°34.884' E103°58.702')
Before we go in to the jetty, there're plenty of people around there fishing.....cos they can catch a lot of fish due to the recent flood that escape out from the fish farm.

It's was cloudy.....sorry cos can't snap a good pictures......

Look at the RED shirt guy.......hmm.....trying to shoot a fish?!

As you can see, so many motors around......

The dam. If you notice that, there are fishes down there......

After went close to Johor River side, we notice that it change a lot since the last time we visited. There's a simple coffee shop around that area, and also some sign board.......

And the coffee shop I mention......

We walk pass this so call coffee shop, there's a small wooden bridge connect to the locals......

The local call "Gong-gong", one of shell type. Commonly see in local Seafood Restaurant.

We meet the one of the local there names "Zohari". He was in the middle of service or repairing his machine......friendly guy.

The front view of Mr Zohari house......

His neighbors........

After Mr Zohari shows us what he caught today.......

The gang begin to discuss for a boat rent.......

But just talk....only......because we are not preparing at all......

Then we decide to leave Mr Zohari and drive further in that we never explore before......
Just a short drive, we reach another fisherman house......(N1°35.025 E103°58.440)

They are selling crabs here, but not today......only during June of every year.

Along the journey back, we accidentally found this small police station.....should I call station?

The attraction was the Solar Panel. But after chat with officer there, they are not use the Solar charge for the electrical use.....that's only for the wireless radio communication to their HQ. They still depend on generator.

Closer look on the Solar Panel.

Along our way back to JB, we almost LOST in this palm oil estate!! Four GPS users in the car but none of us bring the GPS!!

We took around 1 hour round & round in the estate, and at last we manage to get out from it!
