Captain's Choice restaurant at the Imperial Boathouse, Choengmon

It's been a while but here's at last a restaurant review. When my sister and her family visited Samui earlier this month, we went to a few restaurants and enjoyed some good food.

One of the places we visited was the Captain's Choice restaurant at the Imperial Boathouse in Choengmon.

My wife and me have very good and fond memories about this hotel, she worked here for about 8 years at F&B (Food and Beverages) and left the Boathouse when she was 'captain' of the restaurant and I started my PADI Instructor career at the dive shop in this hotel, late in 1999. If you now put one and one together, you should be able to figure out were we met!

My sister also stayed two times at the Boathouse in one of their barges, turned into luxury rooms and over the years I had some enjoyable times and dinners here.

Prawns

This month there's a real interesting deal until the end of the month, buy a voucher of 1.000,-THB and get 1.000,-THB for free. We ended up eating with 12 people for 4.000,-THB in vouchers with another 4.000,-THB for free thrown in.

The food was not as good as we expected though. My lamb chops were rare instead of medium rare and one steak was well done instead of rare. They also had a Chardonnay wine on offer for 500,-THB per bottle, which we declined on after tasting it and went for a much more expensive and nicer wine instead. In general we felt that because of the deal we got value for our money but if we would have had to pay the full amount we would've been disappointed.

In general I have a bit of a feeling that the 'grendeur' of the Boathouse is missing, the wooden planks leading to the beach are really worn out and could use a face lift. The entrance and reception area is still nice and in good shape though!

All in all it was great to have a couple of good nights out with my sister and her family and the good company was more important and at the end of the day it wouldn't have mattered where we would have stayed.

Koh Samui, Thailand daily weather update; 12th August, 2011

Today's weather;

The cloud layers over Samui seem to become less each day, today there are plenty of blue spots around. Current temp at 7am is 25.5C

Today is also Her Majesty's Queen Sirikit's Birthday a day which in Thailand is also celebrated as Mothers Day.

Yesterday saw cloud cover in the morning around Samui but during the early afternoon the sun started to break through, however, just to be replaced by rain around 5pm. Max temp reached 33C

My sister is on her way back home to the Netherlands again, as of today. A good time was had by all with plenty of good food, yesterday it was one of Samui's top Italian restaurants; Prego in Chaweng. It was so busy (definitely need reservations this time of the year, probably a good idea year round!) that service lacked a bit. The food was still good though.

Where To Eat In Naga City

There's a whole lot of eateries, fast food, and restaurants around Plaza Rizal in the city center of Naga. These are all walking distance from both major and budget hotels around the city proper. You don't need to get far from the plaza. Just go around and check out restaurants around the Naga's iconic park. On the other hand, if you feel like eating in an ambiance of Manila, then you can always get to the food court of SM City Naga.

Speaking of Plaza Rizal, it's probably the most useful point of reference within Centro, Naga City. Certainly, you would be tempted to walk around to check out stores and look for some place where you can eat. Well, as long as you are within around 1,000-meter radius of our National Hero's park in this city, you can always walk back to your hotel. I went to Naga City People's Mall on foot and got back to my hotel easily. Knowing the location of the plaza had helped me master different directions to and from the place where I had stayed.

Now, I don't know about you but it's my habit to always have a bit of taste of indigenous food of places I've gotten to visit. And here in Bicol, it's laing, pangat, bicol express, and the widely popular and always found in the bestseller of many restaurants - the all Bicolano food combo of pancit guisado and toasted siopao. Believe me, it's gastronomically delightful.

Iriga Restaurant which is situated along General Luna Street, around 100 meters from Plaza Rizal and towards Naga City's People's Mall serves the best pancit guisado and toasted siopao in town. Although toasted siopao is as popular in Naga as the pandesal in Manila and you can always order it in many eateries.

Hoyeh Bakers and Restaurant, also located along General Luna Street, three stores from Iriga Restaurant, serves laing. But the specialty they are known for is buttered chicken. It's so tasty and savory. I had taken one order of this among other provisions on my way back to Manila.

Forget the laing and bicol express that you always get to eat in Manila. The Bicolano cook of the food that they themselves made known in the entire archipelago got the highest rating I've ever given for food. Naga Graceland is a popular fast food chain in Naga. I've seen a lot of outlets around the city. There's one in SM City Naga, located at the ground floor lobby. It serves combo meal of rice, meat and pangat. And you know what, having this meal is definitely a treat.

One thing remarkably evident about these all pure Bicolano foods is that they are served in all food junctions, restaurants and even stalls in food court of SM City Naga home-made style. They're all taste as if they were cooked at home. You will definitely mistaken the taste for the food that was cooked in some Bicolano household.

So, if you're heading for Naga City for the very first time. And food is your main concern, then no need to stress out. Enjoy your stay, and the Bicolano food, of course.

Djeh Mui Restaurant, Maenam

Djeh Mui Restaurant, Maenam

This restaurant is located in Maenam, facing the Police station, directly at your right hand, down a little sandy soi. It's been around for as long as I'm on Samui, which is around 12 years or more and although the place is upgraded a little bit, it still has the authentic atmosphere as it had 12 years ago when I visited for the first time, the long (shaky) bamboo tables with the small chairs.

Djeh Mui means something like Khun Mui, in Chinese though. Djeh is similar to Pee or elderly. Funnily enough Mui is not from Samui but from the mainland. Her place is mainly known for excellent Khanom Jeen, Kwetiao and pork leg on rice or Kao Kaa Muu plus various Thai desserts.

They also serve a couple of fairly unusual and hard to find drinks like the one above, Naam Kra Dchiap, a sweet drink made form flowers and good for your intestines. We also had a Naam Rakam which had a yellow color and tasted a little bit more sourish and was very refreshing!

With four people we had a whole bunch of dishes, desserts and drinks for way under 400,-THB, well worth your lunch time! This is some very authentic Thai food but not necessarily spicy at all, be careful with the Khanom Jeen sauces/curries though.

Rik's Bar & Restaurant, Bang Rak

Riks Bar & Restaurant, Bang Rak

Yesterday I finally got around to visit Rik's Bar & Restaurant in Bang Rak for a nice dinner and take some pictures! I have been a few times to Rik's place already but somehow never managed to take any pictures, which prevented me to post a report here. Well, here we go, at last!

Rik's place is located just inside the Ghost Road, which in fact is a short cut to Chaweng when coming from Bang Rak. If you drive almost out of Bang Rak, direction Bophud, there's a T-crossing with a 7-11 on the corner, if you turn left here you're on the Ghost Road. Rik's place is after about 150 meters at your left hand.

Rik has an almost daily changing menu which he advertises outside of his restaurant. Yesterday saw 'chicken with piri piri' on the daily special menu. There's however also a menu that is, although small, rather interesting. I chose the liver paté from the starters menu off this menu.

As a main I had a daily special that was on earlier this week, the 'pork medallions with mustard' and I got to choose between a couple of potato options, but that was a no-brainer with 'baked potatoes with rosemary' as an option. Veggies came on the side as well.

My wife went for the above pictured 'Fish fillet with pesto sauce' and the children for a plate of spaghetti with tuna in tomato sauce.

It was all delicious and I can highly recommend Rik's place. Just don't rush out today, since he's closed on Sundays!

Faim de Loup, Bakery at Phra Ae, Koh Lanta

During my day off from the current IDC on Koh Lanta, I had lunch at Faim de Loup, a French bakery in Phra Ae on Koh Lanta.

During my recent visits to Koh Lanta, this is the place where I went to get my wholewheat bread for my breakfast! It's excellent and the nice thing is that after a couple of months the lady who runs the place recognized me when I went back last week for more (breakfast) bread.

My lunch, a club sandwich and a café au lait. French fries can be ordered separately.

The place is very laid back and the menu is not too big so you don't get overwhelmed with options and choices. Always check for specials, this may be worthwhile. Today there was gratin and salad as a special.

Faim de Loup is kind of opposite the Red Snapper in Phra Ae and the picture above shows how it looks like. If you're in this area, go and have breakfast or lunch or get your baked needs on Koh Lanta taken care of!

Ageha Sushi Bar in Lamai

Since a month or so there's a new player on the Japanese food market on Samui and it's Ageha sushi in Lamai. They're located just before Tesco Lotus if coming from the direction of Chaweng, at the other side (right hand side) of the road, just opposite one of my fave eateries in Lamai, the Kao Man Gai place.

The restaurant even got recommend by a Japanese friend who never liked a Japanese restaurant on Samui before this place opened!

Besides the seating options as pictured, the front part of the restaurant has more traditional tables in Western style which may be more accommodating if you're not Japanese or Asian.

The restaurant specializes in sushi and sashimi, so don't go there if you want any other Japanese food, they don't have it and don't offer it! Even a salad, which is on the menu is not a reason to visit! However, on the other hand, if you like fresh sushi made out of local fish, this is the place to be. All local fish is fresh and very tasteful! Tuna and salmon are imported and more expensive!

The nice thing about the restaurant is that their prices are very good and you get excellent value for excellent food in return. Various sushi and sashimi sets are on the menu and single sushi and sashimi orders are possible.

Interestingly enough the chef of Yamato was there as well, he was on crutches as a result of a motorbike accident over a month ago but he told me that he closed his Yamato restaurant and is moving back to Japan. It was very sad to hear this, since I always liked Yamato and always thought this to be a very good Japanese restaurant as well.

I enjoyed the food a lot and also the cup of sake, that comes in a big wooden cup! The Asahi beer was cold and I'm looking forward visiting again! Hope you enjoy your visit as well.

Salo-Salo Sutukil restaurant, Mactan, Cebu City, Philippines

My last night during my recent visit to the Philippines was spent in Cebu City ad I was taken to a local restaurant in Mactan, a small island in front of Cebu city and famous for the death of Fernando Magellan.

Next to the Magellan and Lapu Lapu shrines are a couple of so called sutukil restaurants, which stands for Sugba, Tuwa and Kilaw. Sugba means to grill, Tuwa means to make into Tinola or soup, and Kilaw means to make Kinilaw or raw style serving of the fish, the fish being 'cooked' in vinegar, as a result you get a kind of Sashimi!

The fish is all displayed at the entrance of the restaurants and you order and negotiate a price. My Philippine friend who took me here, was accompanied by his Mum and she warned him about being charged premium prices for the drinks, since the menu didn't list any prices for the drinks. It turned out the we weren't over charged for the drinks but there was an add on for 'cooking' the ordered dishes which was a bit heartily when the check came, so be aware of this when visiting this otherwise delicious restaurant.

The restaurant we visited is one of the three remaining places in Mactan near the Magellan and Lapu Lapu shrine, and whilst Googling this place, it seems that it has been around 'forever'. Another restaurant nearby is 'No problem' but a fellow Cebuan blogger had a warning up for this place. He also warns about over pricing!

The food was excellent though and I enjoyed it a lot. The place reminded me of the Nai Aow restaurant in Kanchanadit, which is also located at a mangrove and serves sea food.

We had lovely company, my friend, his Mum and three Japanese friends invited by my Philippine friend. The company and food were excellent!

Kinilaw Tanigue

This was amongst my fave dishes, the raw tuna 'cooked' in vinegar and as a result you get Kinilaw. An excellent dish and well worth trying out!

Ginisang Alamango

Looks familiar, yes indeed, crab just like in Thailand! The main difference with Thai dishes is that there are no sauces let alone spicy sauces that come with the dishes!

Besides the pictured dishes we also had a seaweed or Lato salad, Inihaw na Isda or grilled fish, Rellenong Pusit or grilled and stuffed fish, pancit bihon or noodles and kanin or rice.

Definitely a place I can recommend when visiting Cebu city!

The sutukil restaurants are located near the Mactan Shrine. It is a 250-peso taxi ride from central Cebu City. Just tell the cab driver you want to go to Mactan Shrine in Punta Engano. It’s on the way to Shangri-la Mactan. If you want to take public transport, you can either ride on a jeepney that goes to Punta Engano (No. 23 jeepneys with Punta Engano signboards in the windshield) or you can choose one of the hundreds of tricycle in Lapu-Lapu City.

The sutukil eateries are to the left of the stage near the Mactan shrine, on the side of the area’s police precinct (now there’s an added security for you.) After you pass a couple of souvenir shops selling trinkets, shell craft and other native products, you then see several stalls with pails and buckets of fresh seafood-just choose one of the several eateries in the place.

Orgasmic Beach Restaurant, Bophud

Yesterday evening we visited a restaurant that opened about a year ago and was since a while on my 'Samui bucket' list. Orgasmic in Bophud, located near the 'My Friends bungalows and Thai food restaurant' (where local Samui folk have many wedding receptions).

The name suggest some pretty above average food should be expected and rest assured, it was well above average! Wally, the chef at this lovely located restaurant, used to be the chef at Zazen restaurant also in Bophud but decided a bit over a year ago to start his own restaurant.

The location is excellent, having located his new place in a small cove and they build a lovely terrace overlooking Bophud bay. There's a spacious parking lot and a red bridge leads you into their restaurant where you are immediately immersed in a lovely atmosphere.

They have orchids at various places around the premises including a waterfall with 50 different species of orchids around it!

Wally and his cousin Christian (an professional international bartender) run the place together and if you haven't been there yet, it's about time to make your way over!

Now on to the food, we had a variety of starters between us, 4 adults and 2 children and my friend and me had the Red tuna tartar with Mediterranean herbs, rocket gaspacho and wasabi crack crack which was really good (see picture above)!

My wife went for the sesame & wasabi crusted king prawns on tomato tandoori bed, which were also delicious.

Grilled Seabass

For mains we had plenty of dishes on our table, 5 to be exactly, one of my friends had the 'Five spices Barracuda filet with oregano roesti & sesame cream' which he found a bit sweet tasting, the kids had ''White snapper filet with zucchini, pecan-celeriac mash, cumin-carrot pastilla & dragon sabayon' the latter was really buttery and since the kids had their food well before we had ours, we were a moment a bit weary but no reason to worry!

My wife's 'Grilled sea bass with mozzarella, beurre nantais, tobiko & broccoli-wakame mash' was excellent. See one of the pix above.

My Dutch friend had a 'Mixed seafood 'on the plancha' with king prawns, baby squid, Samui blue crab, barracuda, white snapper filet served with baked potato & home made sauces'. This went down very well and especially the Samui blue crab seemed to have walked straight out of the bay into the pan, that's how fresh it was.

Poppy seeds crusted lamb loin

I went for 'Poppy seeds crusted lamb loin (240 gr), zucchini gratin, pom reinette & old fashioned mustard sauce' which literally blew my mind. This was the most tender piece of lamb I ever had with a fantastic sauce. This dish surely was orgasmic!

Sabayon & tropical fruit gratin

We were drinking a French rose wine which went down well with the seafood and the meat and after all this onslaught, I was the only that managed to order and eat a dessert; 'Sabayon & tropical fruit gratin, scented with Grand Marnier liquor & jasmine ice cream' which was also very delicious.

Orgasmic is definitely one of the absolute top restaurants on Samui and I can highly recommend a visit. It ain't a cheap location but well worth it. It's also advisable to make a reservation, their phone # is 08 5708 4615 (Christian).

Amidst the bustling Central Business District of Makati City is the Ayala Triangle Gardens. Ayala Triangle Gardens is located at the center of Makati CBD. It is bordered by Ayala Avenue, Paseo de Roxas and Makati Avenue.

Route #1

From Alabang, Muntinlupa, Pacita, Metropolis Star Mall, Laguna, Batangas, Quezon Province and nearby areas - Take the Skyway all the way to Makati. Exit to Don Bosco. Turn right onto Don Bosco Street and left on Chino Roces Avenue formerly Pasong Tamo. Along Chino Roces or Pasong Tamo, to your left is Laureno di Trevi, Wilcon Builders, Avida Towers San Lorenzo and Walter Mart Makati in that order. There's also the Makati Executive Suites and to your right is Don Bosco Technical Institute. Across the next street which is Arnaiz Avenue formerly Pasay Road is Eurotel Makati, MCS Mall and The Beacon Amorsolo Tower. Turn right onto Arnaiz Avenue. To your right now is entrance of St. John Bosco Parish. Also along Arnaiz Avenue are Columns Legaspi, One Corporate Plaza, Midland Plaza, The Residences at Greenbelt and Renaissance Hotel Makati to your left and to your right are El Cielito Inn, Joni's Building, Azuthai Ya and Pamana Languages Building. You must turn left on Makati Avenue, passing Paseo de Roxas. Stay to the left of Makati Avenue. Turn left on Ayala Avenue. Ayala Triangle Garden is right behind Philippine Stock Exchange Building. From Mandaluyong, Pasig, Cubao and Guadalupe taking Edsa. Turn right onto Gil Puyat Avenue formerly Buendia. Stay to the left and turn left on Paseo de Roxas. Stay to the left of Paseo de Roxas and turn left on Makati Avenue. Stay to the right and finally, turn right onto Ayala Avenue. While you are along Makati Avenue, you can already see the Ayala Triangle Garden to your right. It's best to drop off your family infront of Ayala Tower One Building. You can go park your car afterward. Just ask Security Personnel where to park your car. It is advisable to go Saturday or Sunday to avoid heavy traffic in the vicinity.

This route also takes a driver to SM Cyberzone 2, Enzo Building, Jaguar Cars, Kimberly Clark International, Board of Investments and Saville Building to the right of Gil Puyat Avenue; School of Fashion and the Arts at the corner of Gil Puyat and Paseo de Roxas; Mandarin Oriental Hotel to the right of Paseo de Roxas. Along Makati Avenue before you turn right to Ayala Avenue, to the left are Makati Atrium Building where the main office of Pag-Ibig Fund is located as well as BIR Makati office, Somerset Olympia and The Peninsula Manila. You need to take different route in going to these locations. Watch out for my upcoming post where I will feature this location.

Route #3

From Pasig, Marikina, Antipolo, Rosario, Eastwood and nearby areas. Take C-5 all the way to Fort Bonifacio. You must stay to the right after you passed Kalayaan Avenue. Turn right onto 32nd Street. Stay to the middle of 32nd Street, pass 5th Avenue and take the Kalayaan flyover. Stay on Kalayaan flyover up to Gil Puyat Avenue formerly Buendia. Along Buendia stay to the left and turn left on Paseo de Roxas. Stay to the left of Paseo de Roxas and turn left on Makati Avenue. Stay to the right and finally, turn right onto Ayala Avenue. While you are along Makati Avenue, you can already see the Ayala Triangle Garden to your right. It's best to drop off your family infront of Ayala Tower One Building. Just ask Security Personnel where to park your car. It is advisable to go Saturday or Sunday to avoid heavy traffic in the vicinity.

Route #4

From Mandaluyong, San Juan and Boni take San Francisco Street or Primo Cruz and head toward Coronado Street. Take the Mandaluyong-Makati bridge to get to Makati Avenue. After crossing the bridge, you're on Makati Avenue. Stay to the middle of Makati Avenue, cross J.P. Rizal, Kalayaan Avenue, Gil Puyat Avenue formerly Buendia and Paseo de Roxas Avenue. Along Makati Avenue from J.P. Rizal up to Paseo de Roxas are Blue Cross, A.Venue, Millennium Plaza, Aberdeen Court Makati, City Garden Hotel, Isabelle Royal Hotel, Pacific Star Building, Executive Center Building, Banco de Oro Tower and Mandarin Oriental Hotel. Watch out for my upcoming post on directions to these locations. You can search for a direction on the Search Direction Box in the sidebar of this website. Now, after crossing the intersection of Makati Avenue and Paseo de Roxas, stay to the right of Makati Avenue and finally, turn right onto Ayala Avenue. While you are along Makati Avenue, you can already see the Ayala Triangle Garden to your right. It's best to drop off your family infront of Ayala Tower One Building. From Libertad in Pasay, Baclaran as well as Cavite who preferred this route. Take Roxas Boulevard and cross EDSA via the flyover. After the flyover of EDSA, next main street is Libertad Street now known as Arnaiz Avenue. Turn right onto Libertad Street or Arnaiz Avenue and drive all the way to Osmena Highway. It's a bit long drive, you'll cross Taft Avenue under LRT-1 elevated track, Pasay City Cemetery and a Cockpit before you get to the intersection of Arnaiz and Osmena Highway. Turn right onto Osmena Highway also known as South Super Highway. Stay to the right to avoid going up the flyover. Also avoid the ramp to the Skyway. Make a U-Turn on the U-Turn slot under the Magallanes Flyover Interchange, right before EDSA. Drive slowly to make sure you wont lead to the Skyway and the flyover of SLEX as there's no turning back. Once you made the U-Turn, stay to the right of Osmena Highway. Turn right onto Don Bosco Street then left on Chino Roces Avenue and again turn right onto Arnaiz Avenue. You must turn left on Makati Avenue, passing Paseo de Roxas. Stay to the left of Makati Avenue. Turn left on Ayala Avenue. Ayala Triangle is behind Philippine Stock Exchange Building. It's best to drop off your family infront of Ayala Tower One Building before you park your car to the nearest parking. You can ask Security Personnel where to park your car. From Manila take Quirino Ave, turn right onto Osmena Highway then turn right onto Vito Cruz now named P. Ocampo, turn left on G. del Pilar, left on Zobel Roxas, cross Osmena Highway then right onto Kamagong Street. Stay to the middle, cross Chino Roces Avenue. After Bagtikan Street the road bends toward Ayala Avenue, stay to the middle and cross Gil Puyat. Stay to the middle, cross Rufino Street formerly Herrera. Stay to the left then turn left on Paseo de Roxas, you are now seeing Ayala Triangle Garden to your right after the Ayala Tower One Bldg. Stay to the right and turn right to Makati Avenue. Now stay to the right of Makati Avenue and finally, turn right onto Ayala Avenue. It's best to drop off your family infront of Ayala Tower One Building. You can go park your car afterward. Just ask Security Personnel where to park your car. It is advisable to go Saturday or Sunday to avoid heavy traffic in the vicinity.

From Monumento taking EDSA, as well as other areas along the way. Stay on EDSA all the way to Makati. Turn right onto Gil Puyat Avenue formerly Buendia. Stay to the left and turn left on Paseo de Roxas. Stay to the left of Paseo de Roxas and turn left on Makati Avenue. Stay to the right and finally, turn right onto Ayala Avenue. While you are along Makati Avenue, you can already see the Ayala Triangle Garden to your right. It's best to drop off your family infront of Ayala Tower One Building. You can go park your car afterward. Just ask Security Personnel where to park your car. It is advisable to go Saturday or Sunday to avoid heavy traffic in the vicinity.

How to get to Ayala Triangle Garden by bus

Route #1

Take bus anywhere along EDSA with "Ayala-LRT Leveriza" sign. In Monumento, you can take ride bus at the corner of 5th Avenue also known as C-3. You can also ride a bus bound to Ayala from Fairview and Novaliches. You can get off exactly at Philippine Stock Exchange and walk your way up to the Ayala Triangle Garden.

Route #2

From Baclaran, ride bus with "Ayala LRT Leveriza" sign. During weekdays, get off at proper unloading area which is right before Paseo de Roxas. Otherwise, you will walk way too far because the next unloading station for north bound lane of Ayala is on Rustan or Glorietta. Once you got off the bus in the unloading area before Paseo de Roxas Street, walk your way to the underpass and head onto the opposite side of Ayala where the Ayala Tower One is erected. At the back of the building is Ayala Triangle Garden. During Saturdays and Sundays, you can get off at the opposite side of Ayala Tower One Bldg and cross the road to get to the Ayala Triangle Garden.

This route can also be taken by those coming from LRT-1 Taft Avenue, Harrison and Leveriza.

How to get to Ayala Triangle Garden by jeepney

From the corner of Ayala and McKinley, ride jeepney at the terminal located at the service road of Mc Kinley Street opposite Shell Gasoline Station. Get off after Paseo de Roxas and use the the underpass to get to the Ayala Triangle Garden. No unloading in Ayala Triangle Garden during weekdays, but during Saturdays and Sundays, loading and unloading city ordinance of Makati is not being implemented.

How to get to Ayala Triangle Garden by MRT or LRT

Route #1

LRT-1 from Roosevelt including all stations in between Gil Puyat and Roosevelt, get off at Gil Puyat Station. Take a bus with "Ayala" sign and get off at right unloading zone. During weekdays, get off at proper unloading area which is right before Paseo de Roxas. Otherwise, you will walk way too far because the next unloading station for north bound lane of Ayala is on Rustan or Glorietta. Once you got off the bus in the unloading area before Paseo de Roxas Street, walk your way to the underpass and head onto the opposite side of Ayala where the Ayala Tower One is erected. During Saturdays and Sundays, you can get off at the opposite side of Ayala Tower One Bldg and cross the road to get to the Ayala Triangle Garden.

You need to get to EDSA anywhere in Caloocan, then ride bus with Baclaran MOA sign. Get off at Macapagal Blvd. If there are busses that ply directly from your area going to Baclaran like in Letre and Marulas, then ride right there.

From Novaliches

Ride bus with Baclaran MOA sign along Quirino Highway and get off at Macapagal Boulevard.

From Fairview

How to get to Blue Wave Macapagal from South of Metro Manila - Alabang, Muntinlupa, Pacita, etc.

From Alabang by bus

Ride bus going to Monumento, Novaliches or Fairview. Get off at unloading station in EDSA e.g. Magallanes MRT Station or Ayala MRT Station. Cross EDSA via MRT station's overpass - there are elevators in some MRT stations. Ride another bus with Baclaran MOA sign. Get off at Macapagal Blvd.

From Alabang by jeepney

There are terminals of jeepneys going to Pasay Rotonda located in Alabang near Metropolis Star Mall. Some of them just pick up passengers along East Service Road near corner Montillano Street. Ride jeepney with Pasay Rotonda sign. Get off at Pasay Rotonda. Some jeepney drivers drop off passengers right at the MRT Taft Station. Some of them drop off passengers after crossing Taft Avenue. You can either ride just below the elevated MRT Station or near Save More Supermarket after crossing Taft. Plenty of jeepneys going to MOA pass by along EDSA. You don't need to go to the terminal of the so called orange passenger shuttle service going to MOA. It's too far, along Taft, out of the way. Just ride any jeepney or even bus with MOA sign along EDSA. Get off at Macapagal Blvd.

From Bacoor, Zapote, Las Pinas, Cavite and other areas near Alabang-Zapote Road and Emilio Aguinaldo Highway Junction

Ride a bus going to Lawton, Sta. Cruz, or Buendia. This busses take the route of Coastal Road also known as Manila-Cavite Expressway or Aguinaldo Blvd. Lawton and Sta. Cruz bound busses cross EDSA intersection via the flyover. So you must get off right before or after the bus get onto the flyover. Always tell the conductor or driver to drop you off on the unloading station. Most of the time, they don't stop after stopping on the last unloading before EDSA. In this case, it's safe to get off at Baclaran. There's a terminal of jeepneys going to MOA near Lydia's Restaurant along the service road of Roxas Blvd before Redemptorist Church. Ride right there and get off at Macapagal Boulevard. If any chance you get to EDSA, then ride a bus or jeepney with MOA sign and get off at Macapagal Blvd.

From Quiapo, Espana, Sta. Cruz, Dapitan and Binondo

Ride jeepney going to Baclaran and get off at EDSA. Ride another jeepney or bus going to MOA and get off at Macapagal Blvd.

How to get to Blue Wave Macapagal by MRT and LRT?

From any station of MRT-3, get off at Taft Avenue Station.
From any station of LRT-1, get off at EDSA Station.
From any station of LRT-2, get off at Araneta Center-Cubao Station. Walk your way to MRT-3 Cubao Station. LRT-2 and MRT-3 are linked by walkway inside Gateway Mall going to Farmers Plaza Mall where the MRT-3 is connected. Ride a southbound MRT train or train going to Taft Avenue Station. Get off right there at Taft Station.

Under the elevated MRT Taft Station, ride a jeepney going to MOA or Mall of Asia. Jeepneys stop right before the MRT Station so you might walk a little bit backward. If at any case, you find it hard to get a ride there, you might go across Taft Avenue and ride a jeepney going to MOA along EDSA just in front of Save More Supermarket.

Get off at Pres. Diosdado Macapagal Boulevard.

How to get to Blue Wave Macapagal by car?

Route #1

If you're coming from North of Metro Manila e.g. Caloocan, Malabon, Valenzuela, Navotas, Bulacan, Novaliches, Fairview, Cubao and other parts of Quezon City take EDSA. Drive all the way to Pasay until you cross Roxas Boulevard under the flyover. After crossing Roxas Boulevard, stay to the right of EDSA and turn right onto Macapagal Boulevard and make a U-Turn on the first U-Turn slot along Macapagal to get to the Blue Wave. You can easily see the entrance to the parking from the distance. Alternately, you can cross Macapagal Boulevard then get to the parking entrance along EDSA.

Route #2

From south of Metro Manila and the province of Cavite. Take Coastal Road or Manila-Cavite Expressway and drive all the way to NAIA Road where Coastal Road ends. NAIA Road is where Coastal Mall is situated to the left corner. NAIA Road is a main intersection with traffic lights. Upon approaching NAIA Road, change lane to the left and turn left on NAIA Road then turn right onto Diosdado Macapagal Boulevard. Stay to the middle and drive all the way until you cross EDSA. After crossing EDSA stay to the right and make a U-Turn to get to the Blue Wave Macapagal.

Route #3

Coming from areas of Sucat, NAIA-3, NAIA-1, Multinational Village and neighboring vicinity take Sucat Road, Imelda Avenue and Ninoy Aquino Avenue. Turn left on NAIA Road and stay on the middle. Cross Roxas Blvd and turn right onto Diosdado Macapagal Blvd. Stay to the middle and drive all the way until you cross EDSA. After crossing EDSA stay to the right and make a U-Turn to get to the Blue Wave Macapagal.

Route #4

From Alabang take the Skyway and exit on Magallanes Exit then turn left on EDSA. Stay on the middle of EDSA and drive all the way until you cross Roxas Boulevard under the flyover. After crossing Roxas Boulevard, stay to the right of EDSA and turn right onto Macapagal Boulevard and make a U-Turn on the first U-Turn slot along Macapagal to get to the Blue Wave. You can easily see the entrance to the parking from the distance. Alternately, you can cross Macapagal Boulevard then get to the parking entrance along EDSA.

Route #5

From Bulacan, Pampanga and North Luzon, take the route to CCP Complex. Search "how to get to ccp complex" in our search box on the sidebar. From Pedro Bukaneg in CCP Complex turn left on Magdalena Jalandoni and stay to the middle, cross Gil Puyat Avenue Extension. From Cavite, Imus, Bacoor, Tagaytay and other nearby areas. Take Coastal Road or Manila-Cavite Expressway and drive all the way to NAIA Road where Coastal Road ends. NAIA Road is where Coastal Mall is situated to the left corner. NAIA Road is a main intersection with traffic lights. Upon approaching NAIA Road, change lane to the left and turn left on NAIA Road then turn right onto Diosdado Macapagal Boulevard. Stay on Disdado Macapagal, cross three major roads - NAIA Avenue, EDSA (Epifanio Delos Santos Avenue), and Senator Gil Puyat Avenue. While approaching Gil Puyat Avenue Intersection, you must stay to the middle of the Macapagal Boulevard to avoid apprehension. Macapagal slowly bends towards the opposite street which is Magdalena Jalandoni. Macapagal ends up in Gil Puyat and Magdalena Jalandoni begins after crossing Gil Puyat Avenue. Gil Puyat Avenue and Macapagal Boulevard border World Trade Center or WTC to your right. Before World Trade Center is the big PNB Headquarters. After crossing Gil Puyat, stay to the middle of Jalandoni. To your right now is Star City at the corner of Vicente Sotto and Jalandoni. Before Star City is Wensha Spa, very visible from the distance. Cross Vicente Sotto Street, then turn right onto Pedro Bukaneg Street. Jalandoni Street is perpendicular to Bukaneg Street. Stay to the left of the road. You'll pass under LRT-1 elevated track on Taft Avenue and the flyover on Roxas Boulevard. Use those structures as your reference point. Once you passed flyover of Roxas Boulevard, that means you're already in CCP Complex. Stay to the right of Gil Puyat after crossing Roxas Blvd. Turn right onto the next major street which is Magdalena Jalandoni. Before you turn right onto Jalandoni, you'll see the World Trade Center or WTC to your left. Stay to the middle of Jalandoni. To your right now is Star City at the corner of Vicente Sotto and Jalandoni. Before Star City is Wensha Spa, very visible from the distance. Stay to the right of Padre Burgos Street to avoid getting onto Lagusnilad and Taft Avenue. After crossing the intersection with stop light in Manila City Hall vicinity, you must avoid getting onto the Lagusnilad underpass. That's why it's important that you're on the right side of Padre Burgos. Stay on P. Burgos and cross two more intersections with stop lights - General Luna Street and Palacio Street. After Palacio Street intersection, stay to the left of Padre Burgos in preparation for left turn. Turn left on Roxas Blvd. Stay to the middle of Roxas Boulevard and cross intersections of U.N. Avenue, Pedro Gil and Quirino Avenue. After crossing Quirino Avenue, to your right is Manila Yacht Club, followed by Philippine Navy Headquarters. Next to Philippine Navy is the CCP Complex ground. From Caloocan, Navotas, Malabon take Jose Abad Santos Avenue. Jose Abad Santos Avenue ends up in Recto. Cross Recto Avenue and Reina Regente begins. Drive on Reina Regente up to Plaza Lorenzo Ruiz. Turn right to go with the flow of one way traffic around Plaza Lorenzo Ruiz turning left on Juan Luna Street. Stay on Juan Luna crossing Dasmarinas Street. Follow where public jeepneys turn. Turn left on the next street after Dasmarinas. Turn right onto Jones bridge. You are now taking Padre Burgos Street. Stay to the right of Padre Burgos Street to avoid getting onto Lagusnilad and Taft Avenue. After Lawton, the road bends to the left and it becomes Padre Burgos Street. Stay to the right of Padre Burgos Street to avoid getting onto Lagusnilad underpass and Taft Avenue. After crossing the intersection with stop light avoid getting onto the underpass, take Padre Burgos, bending this time to the right. Legarda ends up in Arlegui but the road continues under the name of P. Casal Street. Drive on P. Casal all the way and cross Pasig River via Ayala Bridge. You are now in Ayala Blvd. Go straight crossing Taft Avenue passing under LRT-1 elevated track. You're now on Finance Road. Turn left on Padre Burgos Street. Two more stop lights - General Luna Street and Palacio Street. After Palacio Street, you must stay to the left of Padre Burgos Street in preparation for a left turn. Turn left on Roxas Blvd. Stay to the middle of Roxas Blvd. Cross intersections of U.N. Avenue, Pedro Gil and Quirino Avenue. How to get to Harbor Square from MRT or LRT

Route #1

LRT-1 from north stations namely Roosevelt, Balintawak, Monumento and other stations. Get off at Vito Cruz Station. From Vito Cruz Station, walk up to Pablo Ocampo Street formerly Vito Cruz. Then from the corner of Pablo Ocampo and Taft Avenue walk toward west along Pablo Ocampo until you see the terminal of the colored orange shuttles that ply the CCP Complex-Taft route. It's near to the gate of Rizal Memorial Sports Complex. Ride one of these shuttles and ask the driver to drop you off at at Harbor Square where fast food chains Jollibee, KFC and Mang Inasal are also located along Pedro Bukaneg. Actually your drop-off is the exact location of these fast food chains.

Route #2

LRT-1 from south Stations e.g. Baclaran, Libertad, Gil Puyat etc. Get off at Vito Cruz Station. From Vito Cruz Station, walk up to Pablo Ocampo Street formerly Vito Cruz. Then from the corner of Pablo Ocampo and Taft Avenue walk toward west along Pablo Ocampo until you see the terminal of the colored orange shuttles that ply the CCP Complex-Taft route. It's near to the gate of Rizal Memorial Sports Complex. Ride one of these shuttles and ask the driver to drop you off at drop off at Harbor Square where fast food chains Jollibee, KFC and Mang Inasal are also located along Pedro Bukaneg. From Baclaran ride a jeepney with sign that contains "Mabini Harrison" Get off at Pablo Ocampo Street formerly Vito Cruz. Along Pablo Ocampo Street formerly Vito Cruz near corner Harrison Street, wait for a colored orange shuttle that plies the CCP-Taft route. Ride one of these shuttles going west or Manila Bay for CCP Complex. If you ride a shuttle going east, it will bring you to Rizal Memorial Sports Complex and Taft Avenue instead of the CCP Complex. From Monumento take jeepney to Baclaran and get off at Vito Cruz. Now, there are two routes of jeepneys going to Baclaran from Monumento. One is via Mabini and the other one is via Taft.

Mapa, Araneta Avenue, Araneta Center, Pasig, San Juan, Santa Mesa, Legarda, Gilmore, Pureza, Betty-Go Belmonte, Ramon Magsaysay Boulevard, Nagtahan and other areas along the way going to Harbor Square, CCP, Star City, Harrison Plaza, Vito Cruz and other areas in the vicinity.

Route #4

From Guadalupe Makati, ride jeepney bound to Pedro Gil Taft. From drop off walk up to Taft Avenue. Ride another jeepney bound to Baclaran or Libertad. Get off at Vito Cruz now known as Pablo Ocampo Street. Then from the corner of Pablo Ocampo and Taft Avenue walk toward west along Pablo Ocampo until you see the terminal of the colored orange shuttles that ply the CCP Complex-Taft route. It's near to the gate of Rizal Memorial Sports Complex. These route can also be taken by commuters from Rockwell, J.P. Rizal Makati, PRC, Zapote Makati, Pasong Tamo or Chino Roces, Makati City Hall, Burgos Makati, Kalayaan Makati, Makati Avenue, Kamagong, Zobel Roxas and other areas along the way going to Harbor Square, CCP, Star City, Vito Cruz, Harrison Plaza, Rizal Memorial, Torre Lorenzo, DLSU or De La Salle University and other areas in the vicinity.

If you're coming from Fort Bonifacio, Market-Market, Serenda or High Street then just ride a jeep bound to Guadalupe Makati and take another jeepney ride to Taft.
