Today saw the end of Buddhist Lent Day which started this year 3rd July (Khao Phunsa) and finished today 5th October (Awk Phunsa).
Buddhist Lent Day or the end of it, is a big deal and plenty of different festivals are held all over the country and a few are very exclusive to a city or a region, like the Naga Fireball Phenomenon
On Samui there's no real festival but people gather in the Temples early in the morning and throughout the day, cars decorated like this one drive around the island.
People approach the car, which stops at very regular intervals, sometimes just after a couple of meters and they give money and receive a arm band in return from a monk who sits inside the car.The end of the Buddhist Lent also means that now it's ok again to drink alcohol for the believers!
